Masculine Needs And Desires
The art of managing men has to be learnt from birth. It is earned as you acquire experience. Some women have an instinctive flair but most have to learn the hard way by trial and error. Some die disappointed. It depends to some extent on ones distribution of curves, a developed instinct, and a large degree of sheer feline cunning. MARY HYDE “How To Manage Men”
Once solely regarded as a provider and protector, man has due to feminist pressure and political correctness, slowly adapted his selfish lifestyle to be more accommodating to the demands of the female. But is this right? You still have your dyed in the wool chauvinists out there, but in the modern idiom, they are not ‘up with the play.’ The media have talked enthusiastically about the phenomenon of the Sensitive New Age Guy; a broad minded male who perhaps has stepped aside from the purely traditional role of provider and protector, to assume a more sharing and caring role within the household and the community. Who are these examples of Sensitive New Age Men? Not necessarily men of tradition or old school tie, but those who appreciate the role women play in today’s modern society. They are men of principle who have a passion about their families and are seen to be successful and passionate in their chosen careers. They are often family men and often community minded. They are all over the world, of all cultures, creeds and occupations.
With the change in gender roles over the last forty years women have been very quick to take up many tasks that used to be the domain of men. Men have been slow to acknowledge this. Why? Because men didn’t feel they had to prove themselves but the women did. They may be wrong here, as they should not forget about the caring, sharing role so important in a relationship. Men should recognise that the primeval instincts in the woman still encourage her to look for the he-man image in him. He needs to reinforce in her subconscious mind that he is still the confident and successful provider of all her needs. There should be no room for hesitancy and negativity on his part. He must remember that she needs to feel secure and then she can be subtly controlled by guidance, not repressed. If repressed, she can fight back by: sex – non-giving, temper – tantrums, sulking, emotional blackmail, economics – overspending. Men should remember the old saying, ‘give a woman an inch and she will take a mile’. Sometimes men are very tolerant and unwittingly give more than an inch. Perhaps they really just don’t know what an inch of tolerance is.
So what men really want? A voter’s poll on the Internet in December 2002 came to the following conclusions as to what men wanted from their partners.
The result was:
37% of men wanted plenty of sex
35% of men wanted real love and security
10% of men wanted lots of money
8% of men wanted power and control
7% of men wanted beautiful partners
3% of men wanted handsome bodies.
